Robert (Bob) Francis

Robert L. (Bob) Francis attended Arizona State University (ASU), earning undergraduate degrees in journalism education and art, as well as a master’s degree in journalism and student personnel ('69 BA/Ed, '74 MA/Ed, '77 BA/Art). After teaching high school in Yuma, he began a 32-year career at ASU. While at ASU, Bob served as Assistant Director and Editor of the ASU Alumni Association in the early 1970s, Coordinator of New Student Programs (Orientation) from late 1970s to 1997 in Undergraduate Admissions, and as Executive Coordinator of Greek Life (fraternities and sororities) in Student Development form 1997-2002. Bob also served as advisor to ASU's Devils' Advocates student organization for almost 25 years (1971-1995), Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and Omicron Delta Kappa leadership fraternity. Robert (Bob) Francis retired in June 2002 after 32 years of employment at ASU. An alumnus of ASU Bob assisted the ASU Retirees Association as its Homecoming Chair. He also served as Chair of the Video History Project and was on the Board from 2006 to 2009. Bob was passionate about mentoring and service. He dedicated over 30 years to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, receiving the honor of Big Brother of the Year in 2000. In 1982, he was recognized as one of Outstanding Young Men of America. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses Roy Francis and M. Lucille Francis. He is survived by his two sons, his brother and his sister. A memorial service was held on May 2, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Robert L.
